Welcome to an exciting new year at Highcrest Middle School! At Highcrest we take pride in the academic and extra-curricular opportunities that abound for our fifth and sixth grade students. Through innovative programming and the partnership we have among our families, students, and staff, we are confident that your years at Highcrest will be some of your best in District 39!
The academic experience at Highcrest is one of high expectations and 21st century learning. Our students demonstrate characteristics that make them successful throughout their day by persevering, listening actively, thinking flexibly, and taking responsible risks. Meeting learning targets consistently is important in core subject areas such as reading, math, writing, social studies, and science, as well as in subject areas such as world language, related arts, and physical education. Our teachers work to challenge each and every student to meet targets and expand on their learning, while making sure to have a little fun too!
This school year we are excited to welcome all of our fifth and sixth graders! We continue to encourage H.A.W.K.S. conduct, and can’t wait to celebrate all of our H.A.W.K.S. through spirit days and weekly H.A.W.K.S. High Fives!
A BIG THANK YOU to the amazing support from our PTO and our District 39 Educational Foundation, which allow us to offer many opportunities for Highcrest students to get involved in our school, and for partnering with us to make HMS a great place to learn and grow.
We are going to have a great year! #weareHAWKS

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the school year. I am looking forward to welcoming back your students to school this year and serving as their 6th grade level administrator (GLAd).
The middle school years can be exciting and challenging for both students and parents alike. As the mother of three boys, I am keenly aware that the learning and relationships made during these years, both personal and academic, help shape the adults our students grow to be. I hope to support your student by helping them learn and grow from each situation and by encouraging their innate curiosity and interests.
Here’s to a wonderful school year! GO HAWKS!

6th Grade Level Administrator
Hello! I am extremely excited to be the 5th Grade Level Administrator at Highcrest Middle School. This will be my 6th year at Highcrest and I love my job.
My background is primarily in gifted education, but I have also taught kindergarten, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. This is my 30th year in education and I am proud to say that I’m still learning new ways to meet students’ needs.
5th grade has a very special place in my heart. Personally, I believe it is the best grade level! Lots of transitions, both academically and socially, that contribute to innumerable learning experiences. Your children will be new to Highcrest, but together we will navigate our way through the year.
Outside of work, I have two sons and 2 step-children (boy and girl). I love to play Pokemon Go (and other video games), watch cartoons, and collect chickens. So...I’m not far off from being a 5th grader myself. :)
Please feel free to contact me anytime. I look forward to a great school year!
